The most beautiful cities in Sweden

Sweden is a country of rare beauty, even amid its starkest northern landscapes. Its cities and towns testify to 1000 years of urban life, but there are precious places offering glimpses into even older traditions of human settlement.

Laundry

Laundromats are rare in Sweden. Raven Guides can confirm only one, in a central suburb of Stockholm. Swedish apartment buildings generally offer basement washing areas to owners or tenants, so Swedes have little use for coin or card-operated laundromats.

Dry cleaning (kemtvätt) businesses, however, often accept loads of personal washing. Rates for loads of 5-6kg cost in the 200-400kr range. Turnaround times vary and most businesses open only Monday to Friday. Check Raven Guides’ destination guides for laundry suggestions.

This makes accommodation houses offering access to washing machines highly valuable. Some hotels or hostels – especially hostels – provide access, whether free or at a fee. Access hours tend to be limited.
