Laundry in Sweden

Laundromats are rare in Sweden. Raven Guides can confirm only two, in central Stockholm. Swedish apartment buildings generally offer basement washing areas to owners or tenants, so Swedes have little use for coin or card-operated laundromats.

In Stockholm, the long-established Tvättomaten is at Västmannagatan 61B. Late in 2025 Clean Cocos opened at Torsgatan 3B, not far from the central station.

Dry cleaning (kemtvätt) businesses, however, often accept loads of personal washing. Rates for loads of 5-6kg cost in the 200-400kr range. Turnaround times vary and most businesses open only Monday to Friday. Check Raven Guides’ destination guides for laundry suggestions.

This makes accommodation houses offering access to washing machines highly valuable. Some hotels or hostels – especially hostels – provide access, whether free or at a fee. Access hours tend to be limited.
