Gävle

Gävle is a leafy and graceful city founded in the 15th century and the oldest in the part of Sweden known as Norrland. There is a small castle and the part of its old settlement that has been preserved is a precious reminder of how wooden towns used to look in Sweden.

The preserved precinct includes the childhood home of the tragic US labour activist Joe Hill.
