Dinkelsbühl Germany

Dinkelsbühl

This is a real slice of the past. One of few towns in such a complete state of preservation, Dinkelsbühl survived untouched by later history. The Bavarian king Ludwig I prevented the destruction of its wall circuit, which stands today to give the town its picturesque quality.

The romance is maintained inside the walls by late Gothic half-timbered houses and cobbled streets. Today the central Weinmarkt offers a 360-degree view unmatched anywhere in Germany. There are 18 towers and a Gothic church and tower out of all proportion to the little town's size.
