Czech social life

Czech people on the whole are regarded as being polite but reserved and formal in their relationships with strangers. Hesitancy with English or lack of knowledge of the language are likely to be additional factors. Among younger people or in Prague, these traits are likely to be less pronounced.

A few words of Czech, as a greeting or in thanks, are usually well received (see Language).

Public behaviour is usually quiet and restrained. Punctuality is respected, as are Czech national traditions.
