Other budget accommodation

Budget private rooms

The Czechhotels.info website lists more than 500 homestay options starting about 450Kč, although these mix pension and apartment-style options.

Apartments & self-catering

Apartments (apartmány) are a popular offering in Czechia. Agoda lists more than 2,500 apartments in Prague and about 400 in Brno. Many are price-compatible with upper three-star or four-star hotel rates. The VAT on accommodation rentals is 21%, higher than the basic hotel rate, but this should be covered by the rental quote.

Camping & caravan parks

The total of camping and caravan parks in Czech varies by source. The government statisticians count more than 500 campsites. Perhaps the most useful tool is the app CAMP.cz, which offers discount codes. The Camping.info website lists about 350 bookable properties, with ratings and full details, but these include cabins and other rentals. Other sources find fewer still. Other booking websites with substantial Czech listings include Eurocampings, Czech Campsite, Camperguru and Freeontour.com

Costs for most campsites vary between €10 and €30. Rates rise during peak outdoor months, July and August.

Camping outside designated campsites or private land is illegal for environmental reasons.

Mountain accommodation

Hotel-pension.cz is a good website for browsing affordable accommodation at mountain resorts. For a range of more than 300 chalets, guesthouses, cabins and cottages, browse at www.czech-mountains.eu.
